Compensation Consultant
This position is based in Palo Alto, CA and reports to the Director of Global Compensation.
Core Job & Project Responsibilities
- Serve as primary point of contact for assigned organizations, utilizing compensation expertise to provide guidance on various compensation related issues.
- Lead VP position benchmarking including scoping/leveling, total compensation recommendation for new hires, promotions, annual reviews, and ad-hoc assessments.
- Drive compensation education strategy/roadmap and development of training materials, modules, and intranet content for managers and stakeholder groups.
- Assist in the development and/or approval of new hire offers, job change adjustments, and retention related interventions.
- Communicate changes/updates to compensation processes, policies, structures (e.g., job architecture, compensation ranges) to assigned organizations, Talent Acquisition and People Business Partners.
- Conduct regular analyses to determine the overall compensation health of organizations, locations, job families, etc., and provide recommendations for any possible corrective actions.
- Serve as back-up for equity program analyses and modeling; assist with recommendations and presentations as necessary.
Consulting & Partnership
- Provide consulting services directly or indirectly to People Business partners and business leaders. Guide the decision-making process and outcomes by providing detailed analysis/models, innovative recommendations, and expert knowledge.
- Partner closely with TA to develop compensation strategies to deliver compelling, creative, market-competitive offers to candidates.
- Conduct various analyses and participate in projects supporting the development of compensation and total rewards practices and programs.
- Support annual Compensation Program/Performance cycle - roll-ups, analysis, education, and more. Drive VP comp review process including custom templates, communication, presentation prep and modeling for CEO review, input, and approval.
- Design and deliver training in various forms/modalities in cross-functional partnership with other groups (Talent Development, DEI, Recognition, Talent Acquisition, etc.)
- Partner with team members in Total Rewards, Stock Administration, FP&A, Accounting, Tax, Legal, Internal Audit, People Partners, Communications, and business leaders.
Desired Qualifications
- BA/BS (or equivalent) in Business, Economics, HR, or similar field
- 7+ years of broad-based Compensation experience; market analysis, internal equity reviews, equity compensation, VP/Executive compensation, as well as general compensation consulting. The ideal candidate also has experience supporting highly technical functions (e.g., Software Engineering) across geographies
- Minimum of 3 years experience in high-tech companies
- Strong analytical, project management, and problem-solving abilities
- Obsessed with attention to detail
- Highly proficient using Google Sheets and Excel for heavy data analysis and modeling. Strong Google Presentation and Powerpoint skills and expertise using data to tell a story / make compelling proposals.
- Strong interpersonal skills and effective communication skills with ability to collaborate and understand client and/or business partner needs and apply creative and logical solutions
- Thrive in fast-paced, evolving environment with a strong work ethic, independence, and problem-solving abilities with a high attention to detail
